Buster Jones

On June 24, 2026, our sweet Buster peacefully crossed the Rainbow Bridge at home, surrounded by the people who loved him most. Buster wasn't "just a dog." He was my soul dog, my constant shadow for the last 12 of his 14 years, and one of the greatest gifts God ever gave our family. Corey found him as a tiny puppy in 2012, just a few months old, and from that moment on, Buster became part of our family. He was there through so many milestones—always by our side, always ready for a treat, a car ride, or simply to lie beside us. If I was home, Buster was never far away. He always wanted to know where I was and never liked me out of his sight. The last six months brought a rapid decline in his health, and during his final days, he lost the use of his back legs. Even though we knew his body was tired, making the decision to let him go was one of the hardest things we've ever had to do. Fourteen years will never feel like enough. His last night with us, he enjoyed a feast of steak, green beans, and a baked potato. The next morning, he had the very same breakfast before Dr. Avery came to our home to help him peacefully cross into a place where there is no more pain—where he can run again, see clearly again, and hear the treat jar open once more. I like to think he's chasing every squirrel he can find and soaking up all the sunshine, free from the body that had grown so tired. We are so incredibly thankful to Partners for Pets for giving Buster such a peaceful goodbye in the comfort of his own home. That final gift meant more to our family than words can ever express. A very special thank you to Dr. Sirmon, Dr. Aman, and the entire staff at Partners for Pets for taking such wonderful care of Buster throughout his life. You loved him well, and we will never forget your kindness and compassion. Thank you also to Dr. Korsch-Dismukes and the team at Veterinary Orthopedic & Vision Center in Birmingham for the exceptional care you provided during his specialist visits. I'd be lying if I said we were the only ones grieving. Floki has never known life without Buster. We brought him home when Buster was about four years old, and for the past ten years they've been inseparable. Watching Floki lie in Buster's favorite spots, sleep in his bed, eat less, and seem a little lost without him has been heartbreaking. I'm thankful he was able to be there with us to say goodbye to his big brother. The house has been so much quieter without you, but our hearts have never been louder with memories of you. Buster, thank you for 14 years of unconditional love, unwavering loyalty, and countless memories. Thank you for growing up with Corey, for spending the last 12 years by my side, for loving Callan so gently, and for being the best big brother Floki could have ever asked for. You were the goodest boy, and there will never be another dog quite like you. We miss you every single day. Until we meet again, big man.
