Oreo Marlow

"I don't know what to say here. Not because I have nothing to say, but because I don't know how to say everything I want to. When I got Oreo she was about 7 weeks old and was so tiny she could almost fit in 1 hand. When I brought her home, because she was so used to being with her mom and her brothers and sisters, she immediately went for Rex (he was 2 years old). Rex didn't know what to do about her, so there was this tiny little black fluff ball toddling after this big cat about 12x her size who was absolutely terrified of her. After about a day Rex settled down and accepted Oreo...except for one thing. She treated him like her mother and kept trying to nurse on him lol... After a week or 2 he gave up trying to kick her away and for the first couple months he just had a little bald spot on his belly. She grew out of that and as she became an adult and developed her personality she became very timid and skittish and would only allow interaction if I was sitting in my chair or laying in my bed. But when I was, she was the most actively affectionate and cuddly cat. She would sleep all night on top of me or cuddled up to me and I would wake up every morning with her staring expectantly at me from about 2 inches from my face. Despite her skittish "fearful" personality she was extremely vocal and loud. Being half Siamese she had all sorts of different meows, many of them loud and demanding.. But she also had cute little purring meows, cranky sleepy meows, and everything in between. Oreo was truly my companion, while much of our relationship was on HER terms (lets not talk about how hard it was to catch her to take her to the vet, brush her, or anything like that) she was very affectionate and loving in her own way. When I got home from work she'd be at the door Yowling (as I called it) at me. When I woke up in the morning she'd hear me and be at my bedroom door waiting for me to come out. She had a little cat tree she slept on near my desk in the living room and she'd lay there all day keeping me company while I worked. If I even just glanced in her direction she would jump down from the tree and come next to my chair and yowl at me to pet her. Many of my coworkers often heard her demanding my attention during calls, and they always thought it was adorable and funny. When I was sick she would lay and cuddle and sleep with me.... Even though she would never let me walk up to her and pet her or pick her up, she was my closest companion and always sought me out on her own terms, and I was the only one. She hid from everyone else, which.. if I can be honest made me feel more special that I was THE person she chose to share herself with. She was sassy, demanding, loud, but her adorable nature and truly affectionate personality always won me over. No matter what life threw at me she was always there to make me laugh, or just feel loved and feel better. Its truly going to be difficult to move on without her by my side." - Renee Marlow
